MARGARITA NOVIKOVA (Ru), Sititched Memories, 2014

Transforming of memories. A video collage made of found footage (family chronicles filmed by the author’s grand uncle in ‘60s and 70’s and inherited by the author) and animations of Maria Arendt’s embroideries based on Soviet feature films of the same period of time.

Margarita Novikova was born in Moscow, Russia (USSR) in 1963. Lives and Works in London/ UK, Moscow/ Russia, Berlin/ Germany. Is Degree in “Mathematic Engineer“ Cource by MEPHI; “TV Journalism” by Moscow State University and “Theory and Practice of Video Art” Course by The Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia. Exhibits and works at the level of video art regularly since 2010. Major exhibitions/ events: 1. 4th and 5th Moscow Biennales, Moscow, Russia, 2011 & 1013; 2. Video Art festival Miden, Kalamata, Greece, 2013; 3. Videoholica video art festival, Varna, Bulgaria, 2014; 4. Crosstalk video art festival, Budapest, Hungary, 2014.
