|Diego Fiori & Olga Pohankova (It/Sl), The words hear the light, 2015
“Quod est in speculo ut in subiecto.” According to medieval philosophers, being in a subject is an insubstantial way of being that does not exist in itself, this one is in something else.
In this short film, the nature of the images is questioned, particularly the one of the reflected corpses in the mirror. What is their nature? How can a mirror with his two-dimensional character transliterate three- dimensional images?
The essence of the image, visible on the mirror surface, is a continuous formation in absence of tangible substance. A tribute and at the same time a contestation of J. Cocteau.
Diego Fiori was born in Eboli, Italy in 1989. Lives and works in Vienna and Rome. After having received the academic degree at the Academy of Fine Arts of Rome, Diego Fiori starts to follow the ideas of Giorgio Agamben at the University IUAV of Venice, attends the courses of Giovanni Reale at the State University of Milan. In the last years, after various artistic experiences relative to „declinations“ of the sculpture, Diego Fiori develops a particular form of Video Art; considering the artist a real medium, Fiori evokes solemn sensations of ancestry in his videos. Founding memeber of Philosophische GEBILDE – Gesellschaft für die Bilddekonditionierung (en: PHILOSOPHICAL ENTITIES – Image decondition society).
